You cannot transfer projects from Audition 3.5 to modern Audition CC. They changed the session file architecture. This means you are locked into an old workflow forever.

Warning: After installation, the software will likely freeze when scanning VST plugins. Go to Edit → Preferences → VST and limit the scan folder to only 32-bit VSTs (Audition 3.5 does not support 64-bit plugins).
