Andha Sasur (2023) — Season 1, Episode 1 (MoodX Original) Logline: A tense, darkly comic thriller set in a small North Indian town, Andha Sasur tracks the life of a man trapped between familial duty and a growing web of secrets after an unexpected death forces hidden truths into the open.
Title: Aankhen Band, Khoon Jaga
(Eyes Closed, Blood Awakens)
The first episode of Andha Sasur opens with a tense, rural setup. The title translates to "Blind Father-in-Law," and the story immediately leans into this dark premise.
A newly married young woman comes to live in her husband’s ancestral house. The twist? Her father-in-law is physically blind… but his other senses — especially hearing and touch — are unnaturally sharp.
The episode wastes no time establishing discomfort:
By the end of Episode 1, you realize the old man isn't helpless — he's calculating, manipulative, and has secrets even the family doesn't know.
Riya tends to an elderly woman who keeps muttering: "Thakur killed my son. He saw something in the haveli. Now Thakur pretends to be blind. Don't go there, beta."
Riya ignores her. She needs money for her brother’s surgery. Amar’s offer—five lakhs to marry his "blind, harmless father’s caretaker"—seemed easy.

Season 01, Episode 01: "The Arrival" (or "Aagman")
Scene 1: The Wedding Night (5 mins)
The episode opens with Ragini’s bidai (farewell). Her mother whispers, "The father-in-law is blind, so you’ll have freedom. No one watching you." Ragini smiles nervously. Cut to the car entering a dark forest road. Rajveer says, "Papa is... special. Don’t stare at him."
Scene 2: The Haveli Arrival (7 mins)
They arrive at an unlit, sprawling haveli at midnight. The gates open by themselves. Sasur ji is sitting in a rocking chair in complete darkness. He doesn’t turn his head but says: "Bahurani, your dupatta is red. And your left slipper is untied." He is blind, yet he knew. Ragini is terrified. Rajveer laughs it off: "He has sharp ears."
Scene 3: The Rules (8 mins)
Mausi shows Ragini her room. "Three rules: One – never rearrange the furniture. He has mapped the house in his mind. Two – never light a lamp after 10 PM. The shadows become alive. Three – never ask how he lost his eyes." That night, Ragini hears scratching from the room next to hers. She peeks through the keyhole. Inside, she sees Sasur ji standing perfectly still, facing a wall. Then his head rotates 180 degrees – toward the keyhole. He whispers: "I see you."
Scene 4: The First Day (10 mins)
Next morning, Ragini tries to bond with Sasur ji over tea. She asks gently, "Sasur ji, how did you lose your eyesight?" The entire house goes cold. Rajveer freezes. Sasur ji removes his sunglasses – his eye sockets are empty, but inside each socket is a tiny, moving, human-like face. The mouths whisper in unison: "I sacrificed them to watch over this family. Forever." Ragini screams and faints.
Scene 5: The Revelation (5 mins)
Ragini wakes up in her room. Rajveer is packing a bag. "We’re leaving. Now." She asks why. He opens a hidden drawer and pulls out an old newspaper: "MASSACRE AT HAVELI – 30 YEARS AGO – FATHER KILLS ENTIRE VILLAGE, THEN GOUGES OWN EYES." Rajveer confesses: "Papa isn’t blind. He sees everything – the past, the future, the dead. He just doesn’t need eyes anymore. He’s the guardian of a portal to Naraka (hell) under this house. And now that you’ve asked him the forbidden question... he will have to give you the same gift."
Final Scene (Climax / Hook for Episode 2)
The door creaks open. Sasur ji enters, walking without sound. He holds an old iron katori (bowl) and a needle. "Bahurani... don’t be afraid. Closing your physical eyes lets you see the truth." He raises the needle toward her eye as she screams. Black screen. Title card: ANDHA SASUR. End of Episode 1.
After a young bride moves into her husband’s ancestral village mansion, she discovers that her blind father-in-law has unnatural powers – he can "see" everything without eyes, and he is protecting a dark secret buried beneath the haveli.
