Bonelab Sideload

First, you must prepare the game executable to accept mods.

⚠️ Always back up your save data before bulk modding.

Would you like a step-by-step guide to accompany this review, or a comparison with the official mod.io system?

Sideloading in BONELAB has evolved with recent updates, making it significantly easier to install mods directly within the headset without needing external software. Option 1: Direct In-Game Sideloading (Recommended)

Since Patch 4, you can link your Meta Quest headset directly to for seamless sideloading. Link Your Account Open BONELAB and select from the main menu, then Select the button. A URL ( mod.io/connect ) and a unique code will appear.

On any phone or computer browser, go to that link, log in to your account, and enter the code. Install Mods Browse the mod.io/g/bonelab page on your browser and click on any mods you want. Return to the game’s Mod menu and click Download All . The mods will sideload automatically into your game. Option 2: Manual Sideloading (PC or Laptop) bonelab sideload

If you prefer a manual approach or the in-game browser isn't working, you can transfer files directly via a USB-C cable. Preparation

: Connect your headset to your PC. If prompted in the headset, allow file access. : Navigate to your Quest's internal storage at:

Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.StressLevelZero.BONELAB\files\Mods : Download the Android version of your desired mod from

, extract the zip folder, and drag the extracted folder into the directory. Option 3: Sideloading via "Mobile VR Station" (Standalone)

Ramps up the dismemberment. Bones break into more pieces, blood splatters last longer, and you can literally tear NPCs limb from limb. First, you must prepare the game executable to accept mods

adb push YourMod.marrowmod /sdcard/Android/data/com.StressLevelZero.BoneLab/files/Mods/

For loose folders (e.g., avatar bundles):

adb push AvatarFolder /sdcard/Android/data/com.StressLevelZero.BoneLab/files/Mods/AvatarFolder

If a mod breaks your game or you just want to return to vanilla, simply delete the files from the Mods folder and verify game integrity on Steam/Oculus.

Happy modding! Let us know in the comments if you run into any issues.

Here’s a detailed, long-form review of Bonelab with a focus on sideloading (custom content, mods, and PC-to-Quest file transfers).

Title: Bonelab Sideloading: The True Gateway to VR Physics Sandbox Nirvana — But Not for the Faint of Tech ⚠️ Always back up your save data before bulk modding

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
(Deducting half a star for friction, not for function)

Out of the box, Bonelab feels incomplete. The main story is 4–6 hours of inventive but glitchy setpieces, and the hub world (the Lab) teases possibilities but lacks depth. You’ll climb, shoot, and body-surf into new avatars, but once credits roll, you’re left with a few lackluster arena modes.

Sideloading fixes almost every complaint:

Without sideloading, Bonelab is a 7/10 tech demo. With it, it’s a 9.5/10 sandbox that rivals PCVR.

Most sideloaded mods require LemonLoader. Without it, Bonelab will ignore custom DLL files.
