The Navarasa (literally "nine essences") originates from Bharata Muni’s Natya Shastra, the foundational text of performing arts. The nine rasas are: Shringara (love), Hasya (humor), Karuna (grief), Raudra (anger), Veera (courage), Bhayanaka (fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbhuta (wonder), and Shanta (peace).

While several web series and films have explored the Navarasa before (including the famous Tamil anthology on Netflix), Navarasa 72 takes it to a new scale. Instead of one film per rasa, this project is producing eight short films per rasa (8 films x 9 emotions = 72 shorts). Should I apply

Each 15–25 minute short film will be shot in Hindi (with some regional dialects), catering to the pan-Indian OTT audience expected to stream the collection on platforms like MX Player, Sony LIV, or YouTube Originals by early 2025.

The 72 films are being co-produced by Rasa Collective, an independent film group based out of Bhopal, in association with the National School of Drama (NSD) alumni network. While no A-list Bollywood directors are attached, the roster includes 24 emerging female directors and 12 ADs who have worked on Oscar-nominated Indian documentaries.

(Scene: Sitting on a bench, late night) Dialogue (Hindi): "Mujhe pata hai tum nahi aaoge. Par main har raat yahan baithta hoon… uss gili si bench pe jahan tumne pehli baar mera haath pakda tha. Aaj barish nahi ho rahi… toh main apni aankhon se barish bana raha hoon."

If a listing mentions “72” without context, ask:
“Is that the total anthology runtime or a project ID?”
