Version 5.2.4 introduces a series of balance changes focused on Town Hall 12-15, quality-of-life improvements for clan management, and fixes for critical pathfinding bugs affecting Royal Champions. No new troops or defensive buildings were added. The update is classified as minor but impactful for competitive play.
The spell game was simpler. You had your Lightning, Healing, Rage, Jump, and Freeze spells. However, the Dark Spell Factory was a relatively new addition (introduced in the version 5.xx series). This introduced the Poison, Earthquake, and Haste spells. clash of clans 5.2.4
Version 5.2.4 introduced the Dark Spell Factory, a smaller, cheaper alternative to the standard Spell Factory that utilized Dark Elixir rather than standard Elixir. This was a massive quality-of-life improvement for the game’s economy. Version 5
Prior to this, creating a full spell complement was expensive and time-consuming. The Dark Spell Factory allowed players to brew spells faster and cheaper, leading to more frequent raiding sessions. Alongside the Earthquake spell, this building became a permanent fixture in every Town Hall 8+ base practically overnight. The spell game was simpler
Another monumental addition in this update was the Poison Spell.
Before version 5.2.4, dealing with Clan Castle troops was a high-skill, high-stress mini-game. If an enemy had a high-level Dragon or a pack of Wizards in their Clan Castle, the attacker had to "lure" them out to a corner and surround them with Archers or Barbarians—a tactic known as the "CC Dance."
The Poison Spell simplified this interaction. Dropping a Poison spell on enemy troops slowed their movement and dealt damage over time. This changed the defensive meta significantly; it made low-hitpoint troops (like Archers and Wizards) less viable as defensive CC donations, pushing players toward high-hitpoint tanks like Dragons or Golems to survive the poison.
