Do not just run a wrench down the line. The ISX requires a specific tightening sequence to prevent the housing from "crocking" (distorting).
No torque spec will save you if alignment is wrong. Cummins requires:
If exceeded, use offset dowel pins (Cummins part 3823213) — not oversize bolts.
These bolts secure the housing to the rear of the engine block.
Many DIY rebuilds miss the 3-pass method:
Use new bolts each time (Cummins 3900489). Old bolts will snap at 220+90°.
