In the fast-paced world of network security, migration between firewall platforms is often a nightmare of manual rule conversion, object mapping, and configuration audits. Palo Alto Networks solved this problem with Expedition—a powerful, free tool that helps organizations migrate from legacy firewalls (Cisco, Check Point, Fortinet, etc.) to Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs).
But before you can start migrating, you need to get the tool running. The standard deployment method is using the Expedition OVA (Open Virtual Appliance) file. This guide will walk you through every step of the process: downloading the correct OVA, installing it on your hypervisor, and performing the initial setup.
