When you launch the utility, it performs a six-stage validation sequence that is more rigorous than most competitors:

However, once run with admin privileges, it can bypass Windows Driver Signature Enforcement temporarily (for ring -1 access). This makes it a potential target for rootkits.

    Mitigation: From version 2.3.0 onward (released 2021), the utility requests a dynamic challenge-response from the TPM 2.0 before allowing a flash. If the PCR7 (Secure Boot policy) has been tampered, the utility aborts.
