You do not need to root your phone. GCam works perfectly on unrooted devices. However, not every version works. The Y9a (MediaTek Helio G80) requires a specific ARM64 version.
This is the biggest win. The Y9A’s night mode is decent, but it struggles with moving subjects and edge definition.
