While F-Droid doesn’t host Play Store, it hosts "Aurora Store"—a lightweight client that acts as a proxy to Google Play. For Android 4.4.4, Aurora Store v3.x is excellent.
Because Google pushes silent updates. To stop this:
Download the APK
Install & Ignore Warnings
Clear Cache (if crashes)
Restart Device
Because Android 4.4.4 has limited resources, even the best high-quality APK needs tuning.
