He clipped through the wall. It wasn't a bug—the game simply had no collision detection on the north wall. He slid through it into a gray void. Floating in that void, perfectly lit, was a chair. Leo laughed. "See? This is arthouse nonsense. Glitch art pretending to be horror."
He tabbed out to check his recording. The OBS preview showed his face, his desktop background—and the game window. But in the recorded footage, the game window wasn't showing the gray void. It was showing the bedroom again. And in the bedroom, standing directly behind the floating camera POV, was a woman in a dirty nightgown. Her face was a cascade of missing textures—purple and black checkerboards where her eyes, nose, and mouth should be.

He force-quit HOUSE.exe. The window vanished. On his desktop, a new file appeared: feedback.log. He opened it in Notepad. It contained one line:
[ERROR] Player refuses to look. Initiating manual override.
His webcam light turned on. He hadn't opened any webcam software. The light stayed solid green.
He looked at his own reflection in the black mirror of his main monitor. For a split second—less than a second—his reflection wasn't his. It was the checkerboard-faced woman. Then his face returned.
