Hikvision periodically releases "Critical Security" firmware. Look for these keywords in the FTP file name:
If you see these, stop what you are doing and upgrade immediately.
If you manage a site with 50+ cameras, manually uploading firmware via web browsers is inefficient. The FTP server can be used in conjunction with Hikvision iVMS-4200 or Batch Configuration Tool to push new firmware.
If you are a registered partner, the Partner Portal (hikvision.com/partner) has "Release Candidate" firmware not yet on FTP.
