Firmware Update Fixed: Huawei Hg532e

The firmware update for Huawei HG532e (B017 and later) successfully fixed critical remote code execution vulnerabilities, most notably CVE-2017-17215. This patch prevents the router from being remotely hijacked via the SOAP interface.

However, given the device’s age and lack of ongoing support, the “fixed” state is only marginally safer than the vulnerable state. The HG532e should be retired from production networks. It is no longer suitable for secure internet access, especially in an era of persistent IoT scanning and botnet activity.
