Abstract: The human auditory system has evolved under constant terrestrial gravity and a 24-hour photoperiod. However, the proliferation of long-duration lunar missions raises a novel question: do subcortical auditory filters retain a vestigial sensitivity to lunar tidal forces? This paper introduces Luna VST (Vestigial Selectivity for Tides), a neuro-acoustic framework demonstrating that the human auditory brainstem response (ABR) to specific synthetic timbres—particularly those with inharmonicity ratios matching the lunar synodic period (29.53 days)—is significantly modulated during lunar gravitational maxima.
