In the early 2000s, Bollywood had a massive fanbase in Indonesia, particularly on free-to-air TV stations like RCTI, ANTV, and Indosiar. These stations knew that to capture the mass market—especially families in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi—subtitles were not enough.
