Mares Genius Firmware Update Updated Instant
The Mares Genius uses the Bühlmann ZH-L16 algorithm with gradient factors. Even minor bugs in the decompression model can lead to incorrect no-decompression limits (NDL). The 2024-2025 firmware patches have refined the ascent rate calculations, particularly for high-altitude diving.
This is the diver's dilemma. If your Genius is working flawlessly and a major trip is two days away: Do not update. New firmware can introduce unexpected bugs (regression). Wait until you return. However, if the update includes a critical deco calculation patch (as v2.15 did for repetitive deep dives), update at least one week prior to your trip to allow for testing.
Solution: Do not panic. Force a hard reset: Hold the Left + Right + Select buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds. If the screen flashes, repeat the firmware update process immediately. If it remains black, contact Mares service centers—you will need a JTAG reflash. mares genius firmware update updated
