For the uninitiated, Mario Multiverse is not your typical rom-hack or simple Super Mario World clone. Built from the ground up in the Godot 4 engine, the game combines side-scrolling platforming with light Metroidvania mechanics and a deep, dimension-hopping storyline.

The Premise: Bowser has shattered the "Universal Gem," causing timelines from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, and even the Paper Mario series to collide. Mario must jump between these unstable dimensions, recruiting alternate versions of Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, and even enemies like a heroic Koopa Troopa.

Why the Hype?

I reached out to a moderator from the official Dimension Render Discord (name redacted for privacy). Their reply:

“Please do not download any ‘closed beta’ from third-party sites. We have not issued an updated public build. Those files are either old leaks or malware. The real closed beta is currently offline for a full rewrite.”

Here’s where it gets messy.

The developers have not publicly released a beta. As of last month, the official Discord server stated: “Closed beta access is invite-only for stress testing. No public builds until Q4.”
