Contrary to what the name suggests, this is not a separate app you need to keep. It is a temporary background process used by Microsoft AutoUpdate to decompress and apply delta updates (patches) to Office applications like Word, Excel, and Outlook.

When the update mechanism detects a mismatch between the patch and your current Office build or Mac architecture (Intel vs. Apple Silicon), it throws the "No equivalent application" error.

On macOS, Microsoft applications (particularly older versions of Office 2016, Office 2019, or standalone installers like Skype for Business) use an internal framework called MicrosoftSetupUI.framework.
