Why it’s the future: The manga, written by a former assistant of Chainsaw Man, is pure adrenaline. The anime adaptation by Science Saru (airing now/cour 2 pending) is already being called the best of the year. It is weird, wholesome, and terrifying.

The Hook: A destitute teenage boy, Denji, merges with his pet chainsaw demon to become "Chainsaw Man" and work for a government agency.
Why it’s viral: It is chaotic, horny, violent, and surprisingly profound. Tatsuki Fujimoto writes like a film student who has had too much coffee. The anime covers the "safe" part; the manga gets into Eternal Hell territory.
