On March 16, 1968, a platoon of American soldiers from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, entered the hamlet of My Lai (also known as Pinkville) in the Son My village, Quang Ngai Province.
