Many driver installers fail on fresh Windows installations because driver signature enforcement blocks uncertified but perfectly functional drivers. The "exclusive" edition of FreeSkyCDCn includes a temporary Test Mode switch that allows installation of legacy hardware drivers (e.g., for XP-era scanners or industrial controllers) without disabling system-wide security permanently.

FreeSky announced that the auto-detect engine will be open-sourced (under MIT license) by June 2026, allowing other hardware vendors to integrate the detection logic. The exclusive drivers, however, remain proprietary.
