Omniscient Reader-s Viewpoint - Blind -doujinshi- Here

This is the most popular flavor for softer art. Kim Dokja is a blind office worker or student, and Yoo Joonghyuk is a barista or a protective senior. Without the apocalypse, the danger is emotional. These comics hinge on Kim Dokja’s fear of being a burden versus Yoo Joonghyuk’s innate, regressor-level obsession with him. A classic scene involves Yoo Joonghyuk watching Kim Dokja struggle to read a menu, only to memorize the entire menu board so he can recite it to Kim Dokja every day.

At first glance, rendering Kim Dokja blind sounds counterintuitive. After all, his title is the "Omniscient Reader"—a being who watches the world from outside the text. However, doujinshi artists have latched onto blindness for two critical reasons.

Let us analyze a recurring fan-favorite scene found in over a dozen popular blind doujinshi (most famously illustrated by artist @narrator_blue in their 2023 zine "The Unread Chapter"). Omniscient Reader-s Viewpoint - Blind -Doujinshi-

The Setup: Kim Dokja is blind. The group is in a shelter during a monster wave. Yoo Joonghyuk has just returned from a fight, covered in blood. The Canon Expectation: Yoo Joonghyuk says nothing, cleans himself silently, and broods in the corner. The Blind AU Deviation: Kim Dokja hears Yoo Joonghyuk open the door. He smells the copper of blood. But he cannot see the wound.

The Dialogue (Approximated from the doujinshi): This is the most popular flavor for softer art

Kim Dokja: "Are you hurt?" Yoo Joonghyuk: "..." Kim Dokja: "I can’t see you, Joonghyuk-ah. You have to tell me. Is the blood yours or the monster’s?" Yoo Joonghyuk: (silence for three panels) "...Mine. Shoulder. It is shallow." Kim Dokja: "Come here."

This scene works because in canon, Yoo Joonghyuk never admits weakness. But when the Reader cannot see, the Regressor is forced to speak. The doujinshi uses empty speech bubbles and white space to represent Kim Dokja’s blindness. The final panel is often from Kim Dokja’s POV—completely black—with only the text "Come here" floating in the void. Kim Dokja: "Are you hurt

Why it’s powerful: It subverts the power dynamic. Kim Dokja, the "weakest," commands the strongest through the sheer vulnerability of his disability.

In the official novel, Kim Dokja’s omniscience is a curse. He knows the future suffering of Yoo Joonghyuk, the deaths of his companions, and the inevitable loneliness of his role. In Blind AUs, this trait is inverted. Without sight, Kim Dokja can no longer read the "text" of the world. He cannot see the scenarios coming. He cannot see the expressions of his allies. He is stripped of his defensive cynicism. Suddenly, he is forced to rely on the voices of those around him—specifically, the voice of Yoo Joonghyuk.
