How to use a basic analog metal detector

The original manual includes a specific "Ground Grab" method for the Prospector 100 because it uses a fixed ground balance circuit with a manual override.
When to ground balance: When moving from sandy soil to red clay, or after rain.
The Procedure:
Note: Unlike $1000 detectors, the Prospector 100 cannot remove severe saltwater mineralization. Do not use it in wet ocean sand.
Higher sensitivity = deeper detection, but more "noise."
Noise Cancellation Trick: If you hear a rapid chirping (electrical interference from power lines), reduce Sensitivity until the chirping stops.
