Powercadd 10 Beta Updated -
To be clear: This is a Beta. As of the most recent update (build 10.0b5, for example), the software is not yet production-ready for billing hours.
However, the rate of iteration is impressive. Engineered Software (the new stewards) have been releasing updates every 10–14 days. The feedback loop from the private beta forum is tight; a bug reported regarding the "Tangent Snap" on splines was logged and patched within 72 hours—a speed unheard of in the old days.
According to the official discord from the developer (Oct 15th update):
The "Beta Updated" we are reviewing today is likely the last major feature update before the RC. The team has shifted focus from "making it work" to "making it bulletproof."
If you are a registered user of PowerCADD 9 (serial in hand), here is how the new update installation works: powercadd 10 beta updated
Caution: This is beta software. While the "updated" build is stable, automatic saves are still recommended every 15 minutes. The team warns against using this for paid production deadlines until the "Release Candidate" status is granted (estimated Q1 2024).
The first beta ran via a compatibility layer. This update is fully native. The difference is night and day. Regeneration of complex vector hatches (like brick or roofing patterns) now takes milliseconds. Zooming in and out of a 50MB site plan is buttery smooth. If you are on an M2 or M3 Mac, the fan will not even spin.

For nearly four decades, PowerCADD has occupied a unique and hallowed space in the world of architectural and industrial design. While the industry giants—AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp—chased feature bloat and subscription models, PowerCADD remained the nimble, intelligent, and incredibly fast "wildcard" for Mac-based designers. To be clear: This is a Beta
That silence ended last year with the announcement of PowerCADD 10. But as any veteran user knows, the jump from a legacy Intel-based app to a native Apple Silicon (ARM) architecture was fraught with peril.
Today, Engineered Software (in collaboration with the new stewardship of the code) has released a significant update to the PowerCADD 10 Beta. This is not a minor bug-fix; this is a declaration that the "greyhound of CAD" is finally back to racing speed.
Here is everything you need to know about the updated beta, what has changed, and why you should download it immediately.
Let us be transparent: This is still a beta. There are edges that need sanding. However, the rate of iteration is impressive
The headline feature. Previous betas relied on Rosetta 2 translation, which was fast but prone to memory leaks. The updated beta is a Universal Binary. This means:
If you are a registered PowerCADD 9 user or signed up for the 10 beta program, you do not need to uninstall your old version.
Installation takes about 90 seconds. The app size is a shocking 48MB—smaller than a single JPEG image, proving that bloat is not a feature.
