Changing an IMEI is strictly prohibited under laws governing telecommunications and device identification.
Quectel modules (e.g., EC20, EC25, BG96) store the IMEI in a Non-Volatile Memory (NVRAM) partition. quectel change imei install
Some Quectel modules allow a simpler command (though less common in newer modules):

Example:

Response should be OK. Then reset:
AT+CFUN=1,1
Important: The AT+EGMR method is often disabled in recent firmware. If you get ERROR, you must use QFirehose or QDM.
Always keep a backup of the original IMEI. To restore, simply repeat the process with the original 15-digit number. Using AT+EGMR if supported:
