In previous versions, rail switches were binary and static. v1.11 introduces timed and sequence-based switches. Now, you can set a switch to alternate every lap or change based on cargo weight. This allows for figure-eight patterns and figure-eight loops that cross over themselves without deadlocking.
Because v1.11 introduces timed switches, do not set them to change every lap if your train has multiple cars. A long train takes longer to clear a junction. Use the new "Train Length Detection" tool (the ruler icon) to ensure your rear cars aren't sent down the wrong branch mid-loop.
The fourth train type, Cyclone X-4, is exclusive to v1.11. It boasts: round and round train v1.11
In levels requiring multiple deliveries, do not try to pick up all cargo on the first lap. Instead, design a loop that picks up one item, drops it off on the opposite side, and gradually expands. Version 1.11’s improved UI now highlights which cargo is destined for which station with a colored halo, making this strategy much easier to execute.
