This is the number one complaint regarding Saints Row 3 Remastered character creation. You spend an hour building the perfect anti-hero, then the first cinematic with Pierce or Shaundi hits, and your character looks like a melted action figure.

The Problem: The remaster uses dynamic facial animations (facial rigging) mapped onto your custom geometry. If your character has a very small chin or eyes set too deep, the animation will stretch the skin unnaturally.

The Solution (The "Emote Test"):

Pro Tip: In the remaster, "Neutral" faces look best. The exaggerated cartoon expressions of the original release look broken now because the skin moves too realistically.

In Remastered, clothing textures are upgraded (e.g., leather jackets, sequin dresses, metallic vinyl).
Important: Some original DLC items are now integrated (e.g., Gangstas in Space costumes).
You can revisit Image as Designed stores anytime to change everything except gender/voice.

| Trick | How to do it | |-------|---------------| | Unnatural skin colors | Set RGB values outside standard ranges via color picker (e.g., pure green: R0 G255 B0). | | Alien/ghost look | Max out “Pale” + zero saturation + add glowing eye makeup. | | Extreme jaw/chin | Push “Chin Height” to -100 and “Jaw Width” to +100 for a cartoon villain. | | Remove eyebrows | Select eyebrow style “None” (hidden under presets list – scroll down). | | Same face for both genders | Build face on one gender, screenshot sliders, recreate on other – body proportions reset but face sliders match. |

The remaster allows for layer blending that was impossible in 2011. You can have a full body tattoo, then put an accessory over it (like a tactical vest), and the texture will render without clipping.

The Wardrobe Interaction:

Most games give you "Fat," "Muscular," or "Thin." Saints Row gives you a triangle of tension.

The secret trick here is the "Bulk vs. Tone" slider. You can create a bodybuilder with a beer belly or a wiry ninja. For the remaster, aim for the middle. Extreme body types cause serious clipping issues with the new physics-enabled jackets and skirts.

The Remastered version runs on a tweaked version of the original engine but with significantly upgraded assets. Key changes:

⚠️ You cannot import original SR3 characters directly. You must rebuild them manually using sliders.
