Licence Key — Sidchg

The term "sidchg licence key" is highly specific and often misunderstood. It sits at the intersection of system administration (specifically for SAP systems) and software licensing. To clarify, "sidchg" and "licence key" refer to two distinct but related concepts in the SAP ecosystem.

If you still want the original Sidchg for legacy systems (Windows XP/2003 only), follow these steps:

Direct canonical source (historical reference):
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/newsid sidchg licence key

Note: Microsoft no longer hosts the binary, because they recommend against its use. However, trusted archives like the official Sysinternals public folder may still contain it.

Sysprep is built into every version of Windows from XP onward. It generalizes a Windows installation, removing the machine SID so a new one is generated on next boot. The term "sidchg licence key" is highly specific

Steps:

sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown

Then capture and deploy the image.

Advantages: Fully supported, no licence key needed, works on all modern Windows versions.
