You cannot "download" a license file from a public website. It is generated specifically for your machine. Follow these steps:
Q1: Can I use the same license file on two laptops? No. Standard Tracer TU licenses are single-seat, node-locked. If you need two technicians in the field, you must purchase two licenses. Network floating licenses are available for large enterprise customers but require a different licensing server setup.
Q2: Do I need an internet connection to use Tracer TU after licensing? No. The license file is local. Once imported, you do not need an internet connection to connect to controllers or change settings. You only need internet to initially download the file or to renew an expired license. Q3: What happens if I change my laptop’s motherboard or MAC address? Technically, you have a new Host ID. Your old license file will fail. You must contact Trane support to perform a “license transfer” or “re-host” (often a small administrative fee applies).
Q4: Is the license file the same as the Tracer TU software installer? No. They are separate. You cannot "download" a license file from a public website
Q5: My license says "Professional" but I need "BAS" features. Contact your Trane sales rep to upgrade your entitlement. They will issue a new license file with expanded feature flags. You do not need to reinstall the software.
