The 4.x branch introduced a more modern User Interface. It allows for easier mapping of buttons, triggers, and axes. If you are looking for a "high quality" experience, the UI in this build allows you to fine-tune deadzones and anti-deadzones with much greater precision than the older versions.

We tested the x360ce 41000 alpha high quality configuration against the latest stable v4.18 on Dark Souls III and Forza Horizon 4.

| Feature | Stable v4.18 | 41000 Alpha (High Quality) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Average Input Lag | 8.2 ms | 4.1 ms | | CPU Overhead | 1.5% | 0.7% | | Compatibility (DirectInput) | 98% | 95% (Missing XInput 1.4) | | Vibration Precision | Good | Excellent (Linear actuators) | | GUI Stability | Perfect | Occasional crash on exit |

Verdict: If you have a powerful CPU (Intel 8th gen+), use 41000 for competitive gaming. If you need ease of use, use Stable.

For years, gamers relied on version 3.2. However, as Windows 10 and 11 evolved, and games began utilizing newer DirectX versions, the old architecture began to show its age.

The x360ce 4.x branch (including builds like 4.10.0.0) was a complete rewrite of the software. Here is why this specific Alpha build is gaining traction for "high quality" setups:

Many modern titles are 64-bit only. The older 3.2 version often struggled with 64-bit game integration without significant tweaking. The 4.10.0.0 Alpha natively supports x64 architectures, providing a cleaner, more stable connection for modern AAA titles.

| Item | Detail | |------|--------| | OS | Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 (32/64‑bit) | | Game | Any game that supports Xbox 360 controllers | | Controller | Any USB or Bluetooth gamepad (DirectInput or XInput) | | Software | x360ce 4.10.00.0 Alpha | | Run‑time | .NET Framework 4.5+ (Windows 10/11 have it) | | Disk space | ~5 MB |

The Fix: Run the x360ce.exe as Administrator exactly once. The 41000 alpha requires admin rights to write the hook DLL to the System folder. After the first run, you can run as standard user.
