M.U.G.E.N is a customizable 2D fighting-engine platform with a long history of user-created content. Large rosters—especially those featuring anime characters—are popular among communities but present unique challenges: balancing, memory/performance constraints, asset licensing, and coordination among contributors. This paper addresses those challenges and proposes practical solutions for projects aiming to assemble 300+ character rosters, using a 340-character anime roster as a case study.
