Nintendo’s official support page, updated for the first time in 2,920 days, lists the following with characteristic Japanese brevity: botw update 1.6.0
Ver. 1.6.0 (Released April 10, 2026)
The internet collectively snorted. “Stability improvements” is Nintendo-speak for “we broke your hacks.” But dataminers immediately discovered that the 48MB download contained a Trojan horse of changes far exceeding the official log. What changed
Version 1.6.0 fundamentally alters the Master Sword’s damage calculation. Previously, it glowed at 60 damage near Guardians and Malice. Now, the sword has a hidden "Trials Memory" stat.
If you have completed the Trial of the Sword DLC, the Master Sword now deals 1.5x damage to all Gloom-based enemies (introduced in TotK) retroactively. More intriguingly, when fighting a Lynel, if your hearts are full, the sword now emits a blue pulse every time you parry, stunning the Lynel for 0.5 seconds—a mechanic borrowed directly from Echoes of Wisdom’s swordfighter form. when fighting a Lynel
Beyond the official "news language" support, dataminers found that 1.6.0 added partial voiceover localization for the Sheikah Slate's UI voice. In previous versions, even if you played with Japanese audio, the Sheikah Slate’s beeps and "Objective Updated" voice remained in English. Update 1.6.0 correctly mapped the Slate’s voice to the selected region. Additionally, the Champions' Ballad cutscenes received re-translated subtitles in Dutch and Russian, fixing long-standing grammatical errors.
