Edius Is Not Responding Due To Unexpected Issues Online

Do not just uninstall via Control Panel. Use Grass Valley Clean Tool (available from their support site).

When EDIUS is not responding, it is usually a cry for help regarding system resources or file compatibility. The key to solving the issue is observation: does it happen when you render? When you scrub? When you export? Pinpointing the action that triggers the freeze is the first step toward getting your timeline moving again.

Rename the settings folder:

C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\Settings

→ rename to Settings_old. EDIUS will recreate defaults.

A very common cause for unexpected freezing is a specific transition. If the error occurs during playback, the issue is likely at the exact moment the freeze happens. edius is not responding due to unexpected issues

The Fix:

If EDIUS opens but crashes when playing certain files, go to: System Settings > Hardware Settings > Video Decoder Set "Hardware Decode" to None or Software Only. Intel QuickSync and NVIDIA NVENC can sometimes cause "unexpected issues" with variable frame rate (VFR) footage from screen recorders or phones. Do not just uninstall via Control Panel

Corrupt peak files are the number one cause of this error.

Even if your main project crashes on open, EDIUS keeps backups. → rename to Settings_old

Go to:

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\Autosave

Sort by Date Modified, open the most recent .ezp file before the crash.
